Sounds simple right ? Complete only 256 piece puzzle and receive 2 Million US Dollars. In reality, it might just not be as simple as it sounds…
Eternity is an incredibly popular puzzle game which sold over 500,000 copies Worldwide. For finishing the first Eternity Puzzle, a check of 1 Million British Pounds was awarded to students of Cambridge University in May, 2000. Oliver Riordan and Alexander Selby managed to write a computer software to solve the puzzle. Here is a picture of the correct solution.
Unlike most puzzles, which only have one correct solution, Eternity II can be completed in thousand different ways. It contains 256 square pieces that are bordered by colored patterns which You must then correctly align to find the solution.
According to Christopher Monckton, the creator of “Eternity II Puzzle” anyone of any age could complete this puzzle, it could be a 5 year old or a 90 year old grandma. But since the launch of Eternity II in 2007, no one has been able to come up with a solution. The solution submissions from users are locked away until 31st December of each year, on that date, the submissions will be available in the order received, and the first person to complete the solution wins $ 2 mil. So hurry up, You only have 1 month left !
It does not sound like it would be harder than the 4000 piece regular puzzles that make up an image of some beautiful landscape etc…, however the absolute solution’s difficulty is nearing astronomical values. The creator even mentioned that even the most powerful computer today would be computing the solutions for ages.
The odds that anyone would solve something like this are minimal, but what do You know, the luck could be on your side. To practice the Eternity Puzzle, there is a mini-version here. And if You decided to purchase it, you can do so from here.
Good Luck!
